Reddit is a social platform organized into communities called subreddits, where people share posts, ask questions, discuss interests, and react to news or entertainment. You can browse public communities, vote on posts and comments, save content, and join conversations. Some features and community rules vary, so it is worth exploring a subreddit’s guidelines before posting.

Reddit is generally free to download and use on Android and iOS. You can browse communities and participate without paying, though the app may offer optional paid features or subscriptions, and availability can change. A mobile data or Wi-Fi connection is needed for most activity. Check the app store listing and in-app purchase details in your region before installing.

You can browse many public Reddit posts and communities without signing in, which is useful for exploring the platform first. An account is generally needed to post, comment, vote, save content, and personalize your feed. Some communities or content may have age or access restrictions. Review Reddit’s current account requirements and privacy settings if you plan to participate.

Reddit is not uniformly suitable for children: communities are user-created, and some contain mature, disturbing, or otherwise sensitive material. Moderation and content controls can help, but they do not guarantee that every post is appropriate. Parents should review the platform’s current age requirements, safety settings, and community rules, and supervise younger users’ access and interactions.

Reddit includes settings for notifications, feed preferences, and aspects of account privacy, but posts and comments shared publicly may be visible to other users. Avoid including personal or sensitive information in public discussions, and review the settings before participating. You can also adjust notifications to reduce interruptions. Check the app’s current privacy policy and device permissions for details.
