Airbnb is a travel app for finding and booking places to stay, such as apartments, houses, rooms, and vacation homes. Depending on the destination, you can also browse experiences and other activities offered by local hosts. The app lets you search by location and dates, compare listings, review photos and amenities, contact hosts, manage reservations, and access trip details.

To book, enter your destination, dates, and guest count, then compare available listings and review their rules, amenities, cancellation terms, and total price before submitting a reservation. Some listings offer instant booking, while others require the host to approve your request. A reservation is not confirmed until Airbnb shows it as confirmed, so check your trip details and messages afterward.

The nightly rate may not be the full cost of a stay. Depending on the listing and location, the total can include cleaning or other host fees, Airbnb service fees, taxes, and charges for optional extras. Review the price breakdown for your selected dates and guest count before paying, and check whether the host requires a refundable security deposit or has other stated conditions.

Cancellation and refund eligibility depend on the policy attached to the specific reservation, as well as when you cancel. Read the policy on the listing and again during checkout, since deadlines and refund amounts can vary. You can manage a booking from your trips in the app. If a problem affects your stay, contact the host through Airbnb and use the platform’s support options.

Airbnb provides account, booking, messaging, and payment tools, but travelers should still assess each listing carefully. Read recent reviews, verify the address and house rules, and communicate and pay through the app rather than agreeing to off-platform arrangements. Avoid sharing sensitive information unnecessarily, and report suspicious messages or listing concerns through Airbnb. Policies, identity checks, and support options can vary by situation and location.
